"Just landed in Geneva, we took off after Schumacher but he just landed after us so it's the first time I overtake him this year!" Heikki Kovalainen via Twitter (after the 2011 Hungarian GP)

Rubens Mnemonic

Jenson Button's personal website was hacked last night and displayed a message, on the home page, that the driver is in critical condition in a Budapest hospital after suffering a road crash.

Rubens Barrichello, former team mate at Brawn GP, spoke after the incident. He said: "I just browsed his site to find more about this subject and then it crossed my mind to try his old password and it worked: hondaareidiots..."

Everybody knows that password... Just change it! Possible hint: hondaareidiots01

True Grip

In an interview for Ferrari.com previewing the Hungarian GP, Fernando Alonso said: “we want the hottest temperatures possible”.

Sorry Fernando, but you have to wait at least another year until Nibiru is expected to cross our Solar System. Then the Earth will have two suns and even your Ferrari will perform better on the hard tyre. If not, there is always Jupiter to be added in the mix (but not for 2 billion years).

The Markgician

Webber predicts close battle: "It will be tight again, all three teams have shown form, McLaren and Ferrari aren't hanging around and qualifying has tightened up a bit."

Once again, the Oracle from Crackingunderpressureshire has spoken:

A weekend of anniversaries for Mercedes:

...100 Grands Prix for Nico Rosberg.

... streak of 1 race without front wing damage for Michael Schumacher.

The tide is (not) high

BC commentator and former F1 racer Martin Brundle has warned title leaders Red Bull that the 'tide is turning' towards McLaren and Ferrari following the German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring.

Red Bull's lack of performance seems to have left them stranded:

R.B. Confidential

Red Bull boss Christian Horner has said signing Mark Webber's contract extension for 2012 is now just a formality, suggesting the team and driver have already agreed to stick together next year, as ESPNF1 reports.

Talks must have looked like this:

Webber: Cheers mate, where do I sign?
Horner: Here!
Webber: ...bugger me!

Duke Nukem

Formula 1 officials say the March earthquake and nuclear crisis in Japan will not affect the Japanese Grand Prix to be held 9 October at the Suzuka track. (Associated Press)

But Sebastian Vettel is taking no risks and has already started to work on the helmet design for Japan. It will most likely look like this:

Pace...the final frontier!

Karun Chandhok has admitted his Lotus debut at the German Grand Prix was far from perfect, but said he learnt a lot after completing his first full race distance since the British Grand Prix last year, said ESPN.

Requirements for Karun aren't high this season at Lotus: just finish the race within 24 hrs...

Old Murray

Murray: "There's a car coming into the pits now, they're so unreliable with all those electronics on board. "
James Hunt: "Actually, Murray, one of his wheels has just fallen off! "

"We now have exactly the same situation as we had at the start of the race, only exactly the opposite."

"The lead car is absolutely unique, except for the one behind it which is identical."

"He's obviously gone in for a wheel change. I say obviously because I can't see it."

"With half the race gone, there is half the race still to go."

"Anything happens in Grand Prix racing and it usually does."

Describing how the leader can see the driver following him: "... Mansell can see him in his earphone... "

Murrary: "What's that? There's a BODY on the track!!!"
James Hunt: "Um, I think that that is a piece of bodywork, from someone's car. "

As an introductory piece for a rallysprint race, Murray was put in the navigator's seat in a Chevette HSR: "And there's a 600 foot drop on my left. AND we're doing 120 mph... AND we're approaching a hairpin...OH MY GOD we're going to die..."

Murray: "And look at the flames coming from the back of Berger's McLaren."
James Hunt: "Actually, Murray, they're not flames, it's the safety light. "

"...and there's no damage to the car.....except to the car itself. "

"The beak of Ayrton Senna's chicken is pulling ahead."

"...and I interrupt myself to bring you this.... "

"This is an interesting circuit because it has inclines, and not just up, but down as well. "

"Only a few more laps to go and then the action will begin, unless this is the action, which it is. "

"This has been a great season for Nelson Piquet, as he is now known, and always has been."

"And the first five places are filled by five different cars. "

"Tambay's hopes, which were nil before, are absolutely zero now. "

"Martin Brundle's got a bald spot - he won't be pleased about that..."

"...and Andretti is going very slowly - he must have an electrical problem of some sort..." (Andretti was driving on three wheels, having hit something on the track.) "As you can see, visually, with your eyes... "

"Andrea de Cesaris...the man who has won more Grands Prix than anyone else without actually winning one of them. "

"...and now, just in case there is any confusion this is the race order on lap 19: David Coulthard leads and has yet to stop; Hakkinen leads and has yet to stop... "

"Nigel Mansell - the man of the race - the man of the day - the man from the Isle of Man."

"An Achilles heel for the McLaren team this year, and it's literally the heel because it's the gearbox..."

"And now the boot is on the other Schumacher."

"The atmosphere is so tense you could cut it with a cricket stump."

"Alain Prost is in a commanding second place."

Sub Zero

Pirelli motorsport director Paul Hembery says that the experimental soft tyres tested during Friday practice for the German Grand Prix could become next season's medium compound (reports ESPN).

Super soft tyre development for next season already completed...

Practice makes "pole"

Mark Webber says he is "feeling comfortable so far" after setting the fastest time of Friday practice for the German Grand Prix.

And despite that, Red Bull are already testing an improved version of DRS* in Milton Keynes, to make the car even faster.
